Live Oak Park's Arts and Crafts Fair, Berkeley June 10, 2007

Summer time is a blooming time for the arts and crafts fair or open studios in Berkeley. My children and I like to go to these events to see different artwork and to get inspired.

Most of the arts and crafts are done by women and some by men. This is a very clever invention, when you twirl it around or when the wind blows, the ball seems to run up and down.

Hand-sewn-fabric-animals.

I spotted these beautiful and unusual flowers in this lady's tent, whose specialty is the hand-sewn-hats.

Humm!...I wouldn't want to be judged by this lady.

Lots of pottery.

...And jewelry.

Metal and glass flowers.

The children and their moms love face paintings.

Hanging picture frames for children.

...And other artwork.

This is Elaine Chu. She is a graphic designer from Kensington. I met Elaine last year at the same fair and I am glad to know Elaine and her beautiful artwork.

Some of Elaine's designs. If you are interested to see more of her work, please visit Elaine's website at www.egchu.com

Elaine's niece's creativity.

This is Barbara Bent. She is an artist who also works at Berkeley Public Library. I have known her for a few years, and I am proud to present her pottery on my blog.

If you would like to know more about Barbara and her pottery, please email me at nga53@hotmail.com and I will make sure that she gets it.

Hi Nga,
Thanks (to you and your son) for stopping by my booth and for pix ...they turned out really well.
It's fine to have my website on your blog.
I'm flattered that you added them to your site.
BTW are any of the pix hires? I was wondering if I can print them out at my end.
The fair turned out quite well...I sold quite a few items...and so did my niece, Jordan!
Good luck at your origami earring class!
Elaine
You could try to print them if you'd like. Let me know if they come out OK.

Hi Nga,
My name is Cynthia and I've been a customer of Barbara Bent's in the
past and want to buy a few more things from her, but I cannot find her telephone number anywhere. Could you send it to me, or forward this message to her and ask her to give me a call! Thanks so much!
Cynthia

Thank you for letting me see so much of Barbara's work. And her. Not that i do not have a house full of her pottery! Yes i woould like to
"know more about Barbara"------i used to know a lot. It's a long time
ago and she will remember me. You could tell her that we just got,
Phoebe and i, really more her, a new dishwasher, reallly new for us
never had one. And Dan Goode in New York, to whom we gave a set of
dinner plates as a wedding present, has been dishwashing Barbara's
dishes lo these many years.......And it is alright.
I did not expect Barbara to have a site so i am delighted that she
figures on yours. Goes she have at least e-mail now? I just got an
address myself.
Please pass this on, and ask her to say hello. Mucho
thanks. Philip Corner
Thank you for visiting my blog. I'll forward your email to Barbara.

Dear Nga,
Thank you so very much for your blog and letting my friend find me. It is so great that you are dragging me into the electronic age and facilitating communications with an old friend.
I love you! Barbara
You're welcome. Isn't technology great?

Hi - I noticed that you had some pictures of Barbara Bent's pottery on your blog from an arts fair in Berkeley. I bought a bunch of Barbara's lovely blue pottery many years ago and along the way a few pieces have unfortunately broken. If you know what fairs she will be at or whether she sells in any shops, please let me know.
I apologize if this note is coming out of the blue but as your email address was on the site I thought it would be ok to mail.
Thanks!
Kira
Barbara Bent told me that I can give her phone number to people who are interested in buying her pottery. Here is her number: 510-644-9446.
