Our Fourth Trip to Viet Nam-July, 16-August 25, 2006, Part 1

After a month vacationing in Viet Nam and absent from blogging, I am back.
This year we traveled mainly in the southern part of Viet nam (the pink area). My brother-in-law, Hiep, drove us from Ho Chi Minh City up to Nha Trang, a beautiful, popular beach resort, and well known to both domestic and international tourists. On the way there we stopped at Phan Thiet, Ca Na, Mui Ne, and Phan Rang. These areas are near the coast and all have beautiful beaches. We also went to south of Ho Chi Minh City and visited Can Tho, one of the Mekong Delta's riches that produce most of Viet Nam's argiculture needs.

My Thuan bridge. I really like this simple, light blue, letter-H-shaped bridge. It was designed and built by the Australians. It was started in July 1997, and finished in May, 2000. It is 1,535 meters long, and 23.6 meters wide, and costs 90.86 million dollars to build. The Australia govement contributed two-thirds of the cost, and the Vietnamese one-third. The bridge helps linking Tien Giang to the North and Vinh Long to the South.

Ca Na Beach around 6 o'clock in the morning. In Viet Nam the sun and the people get up very early.

Ca Na, you may say is a very rocky and sandy beach.

We collected lots of seashells, rocks, and broken corrals. To local people these were just too common to be bothered with, but we were fascinating with these beautiful things.

Bao and I (Anh Vu were taking the pictures) were the only ones on the beach that day. A tour bus dropped a bunch of people to this only State-run restaurant and hotel here, but nobody ventured out to the beach that morning, perhaps it was a little chilly day(not for us though). Anh Vu took this picture of the children who just sat and watched. We stayed here for the night. A room with one queen size bed and a twin with hot water, air conditioning, TV, fan, and maid service cost about 17 dollars a day. Pretty nifty huh? We were happy with the sea food and the service at the Ca Na hotel.

Anh Vu spotted this house with the For Sale sign in Ca Na. In the back of the house is the rocky hill, and across it is the beautiful beach. Any takers?
