How Berkeley Can You Be Parade

Every year around September since 1996, the city of Berkeley holds its own parade.(check out howberkeleycanyoube.com to find out more about its history.) There are all kinds of people "sane and insane" from different ethnicities, beliefs, and political backgrounds march together. They start on Sacramento street and ends at the Civic Center in downtown Berkeley. People are lining up on both sides of the street to watch and marvel at the funnyish, punkish, craziness and artful creations of all kinds : clothing or nonclothing, cars, headresses, bikes, and "you name it", Berkeley parade has it. My children and I like to come to the parade to cheer on Berkeley Library people, to laugh, have fun, and to take pictures. We are looking forward to another parade this year on September 17, 2006.

Hi Nga,
The How Berkeley Can You Be Parade reminds me of the Fremont Solstice Parade here in Seattle, and also Eeyore's Birthday Party in Austin, Texas, where we lived in the '90's. All three are events celebrating individuals and their creativity...
