Fourth Annual Staff Art Show at BPL
About thirty Berkeley Public Library staff came to the reception in the morning of Monday the 5th, 2009 - I forgot to take pictures of some people that I talked to, sorry. Claremont Branch did a great job at hosting the event with Nick and Holly who were in charge of the setup, and striking up conversations with fellow artists and co-workers . My main job was to take pictures and videotape the reception.

Teresa bought coffee from Peet's and helped setup the hot tea pot. Debbie as usual gave us her delicious pumpkin bread. Nick brought muffins and bagels in different flavors, textures and colors. I and other staff members also contributed fresh fruits and other baked goods.

Nick with his supervisor from Claremont, Karen S.. Nick generously brought in a box full of his beautiful collage-bookmarks to give away.

From left to right: Debbie, Adam, Nga, Nick, Barbara and Holly Nguyen. Holly is a new Library Aide at Claremont, who graduated from UCB with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture. This is Holly's first year in the show. Her three brightly-colored masks will be featured in my video.

I am with Erica G., a Children's Librarian.

Jenifer S.

Debby and Jenifer.

My two tote bags and a collection of small origami are in the front display window.

And this is from the inside, looking out.

Library director, Donna C. and Bill.

Nick's bookmarks are the collected items of the day.

Barbara B. and me.

Barbara's pottery.

Raffi and Adam.

Adam's self portrait.

Teresa A. is reading the Guess Book.

Teresa's self portrait.

Nick and Dayna.

Debbie and Dayna's recycled sock animals are on the bottom shelf. They look very soft, cuddly and cute. What a great idea to recycle old socks, and make them beautiful and new again.

Nick's collages.

Joseph, Nga and Juan.

Joseph's drawings.

Bao and his painting on the wall. Bao is a volunteer/student worker at North Branch. It was Paticia N.'s idea to include unpaid/volunteer staff to the show this year. Thanks for the suggestion Pat! (she's the BPL's Volunteer Coordinator)
I also made some videos of the event, will put them together and then upload them on You Tube soon, so please stay tuned! Thank you everyone who are involved in making the SAS such a great show every year.

Nga,
Thanks for putting this all together. I am looking forward to seeing all
the work, and all the artists too.
Teresa
Nga,
Thanks for your help today. We appreciate all your hard work to make the staff show such a success. Most of us don't know how much effort goes into something like this.
Thanks,
Denise
You're welcome, and thank you for joining the show. Without you there won't be any show.
Hope to see you again next year.
Hi Nga,
Thanks for all your patience and support. I'm really impressed with the Art that I've seen so far!
Best,
Lisa
Hi Nga,
Thank you so much for having included non-paid (volunteers) BPL staff members in (the Staff Art Show).
Sincerely,
Pat N.
